Research

Membranes are essential for life in all its forms. Cells use membranes to store and manipulate chemical gradients for metabolism, biosynthesis and signaling. In our research we explore ways to reproduce some of these essential functions in artificial systems as a means to create new methods for separations, chemical sensors, drug delivery, and eventually for ionic signaling and logic circuits. My teaching interests span the range of organic chemistry: introductory organic, bioorganic, synthesis, physical organic, natural products and supramolecular chemistry.
